I get asked all the time...."how can I lower my car insurance premiums." So I put together a few simple but powerful tips you can use to lower your auto insurance rates.
1. Raise your deductible amount. Having a high deductible, like $1,000 will drastically lower your rate. You only pay the deductible amount a) when you have a claim, b) when you are at fault and YOUR insurance rate pays the claim....so two things have to happen. If you are a safe driver, you will save a lot of money with little liability.
2. Move other coverages together. If you own a home, have the same company write the auto policy as well or ask the agent to give you a new quote for home and auto combined.
3. Ask for discounts, good drivers, smart students, military, AARP, credit unions, limited use drivers who only drive short distances each month etc. etc. so ASK your agent what discounts are offered you never know what you could be eligible for.
4. Take defensive driving if you are a young driver.
5. Pick your vehicle wisely, higher priced vehicles, sports cars, limited editions etc. etc. can drastically increase annual premiums.
